The Beaufort County Economic Development Corporation is working to orchestrate a job fair on December 9th with the Lowcountry Fresh Market & Cafe project.
You may have heard about the project through the Island Packet, the Beaufort County EDC, or another forum in the past few months. The project entails Bluffton couple Andy and Cindy Rolfe partnering with the Gullah Farmer's Cooperative to help them build an economic future for their family farms in a couple ways:
- First, they are providing the additional funds required to construct a St. Helena processing facility.
- Second, they are opening a local food market and café at 303 S. Bleecker Street (the new Washington Square development) in Bluffton to sell Gullah Co-op produce and other locally-sourced products.
Lowcountry Fresh is set to open in the Spring of 2021 and will look to employ over 35 individuals, offering benefits and providing wages that make an impact on the lives of those employed. We believe this project will grow our community through quality employment opportunities for residents.
