Able Contracting Fire Updates-Monday, September 9, 2019

Light winds and a fairly stable atmosphere may trap smoke near the surface in the vicinity of the Able Contracting facility during the overnight hours each night. Light and variable winds each night could shift the plume in any direction at any given time, but highest smoke concentrations are expected to be in close proximity of the fire, within about 1/4 mile of the facility. Beyond mid-morning hours (through sunset) each day, any remnant smoke in the air should disperse efficiently. Any significant smoke during morning hours will likely be transported towards the north within generally light southerly winds. Thus, the area near the intersection of Argent Blvd and Okatie Hwy are more likely to witness smoke if fire flare-ups occur. Smoke is not expected to be a problem during the afternoon hours each day. Please note that locations closest to the Able Contracting facility along Schinger Avenue are more likely to experience smoke at any given time.

The Able Contracting Information Hotline  has been established to provide the daily forecast and allow community members to leave messages if they have additional questions. The Smoke Forecast Hotline phone number is 803-898-4262 or 1-800‐204-1842.
