HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Fueled by an increase in new residential construction, Hardeeville continues to be the Lowcountry region’s fastest-growing city since the 2010 Census figures were released.
According to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau, Hardeeville’s newest population estimate for 2017 stands at 5,967. The new figures reveal a 102 percent growth in the City’s population since the 2010 Census, with an average annual percent population increase of 20.43%.
City officials anticipate continued strong growth as the number of construction permits continue to rise year after year. A majority of the recent population growth has occurred in the Sun City, Hilton Head Lakes and Hearthstone Lakes neighborhoods. The addition of Latitude Margaritaville and the East Argent development will also add to the growth in population over the next ten years.
Hardeeville Mayor Harry William says, “Population growth is vital to the short and long term goals of the City; including the recruitment of new industries with new jobs and new commerce and new restaurants.
The fabric of any community are the people who breathe life into the homes, the workplaces, the churches and the playgrounds within her borders.
Hardeeville has been blessed to have many new residents in the past decade who have woven themselves into the community and made the City stronger, safer, and happier.
As the City faces the next decade of continued growth, we welcome all residents, old and new, to join together in a spirit of pride in this home we call Hardeeville.”
