Fire Department Battalion Chief of Training

The Hardeeville Fire Department is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic professional for the position of Training Officer for one of the region’s highest growth areas. This position reports directly to the Deputy Fire Chief. The successful applicant will plan, organize, manage, and supervise the training program for the Hardeeville Fire Department; will assist with administrative services and operations; will be responsible for the management of the department safety program; and is responsible for assisting in developing operating guidelines.


Full-time, exempt position; schedule includes evenings & weekends.

  • Minimum of five years of Fire Operations experience including one year as a Captain
  • Fire Officer II
  • Fire Instructor II
  • Associates Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience


Develops and implements annual training plan including daily, weekly, monthly training. Prepares necessary lesson plans for training sessions.

Conducts, coordinates, and facilitates weekly training sessions according to the annual and monthly training plan. Teaches and leads regular training sessions on a regular basis. Delivers cognitive and didactic training on a regular basis.

Trains personnel to levels at or above those required for certification by the Department, State of South Carolina, or other certification agencies or organizations. Coordinates certification of personnel in a variety of positions and functions.
